Assam Orthodox Black

Presenting a daily drinking Assam with a finesse not seen before. Crafted by local artisans in Koliapani, Assam in collaboration with The Tea Leaf Theory, the result is an Assam Black/Red tea with the finesse of a Darjeeling high altitude orthodox. The estate is surrounded by streams, micro-forests, peanut and bamboo plantations, the final result is a product of this wonderful ecology along with the years of hardwork which has been put into it and it shows!

The tea starts mellow with malt and wood notes, but also with a sweetness of flowers. The woody notes shine througout the cup while there is a dance of flavours from the first to the last sip. The dryness/astringency is extremely smooth and helps you feel fulfilled as you keep sipping. You can taste honey notes when the tea has cooled down to around 80°C and the transformation still continues, also present along with the honey is something fruity which is like apricots and also like raisins. The final surprise is when your cup is about to be empty, you get a hint of chocolate at the end and the cup is empty by then, making you as excited to drink it again as you were before your first sip!
